This is a rare video clip of Edwardian England (as posted on Jeri Westerson’s blog, Getting Medieval). It’s certainly not 17th century, but an amazing documentary. Pinch me!
It shows, as we’ve always suspected, that boys will be boys and girls will be girls, and that humans don’t change, whatever the costume.
That clip reminds me of one I saw of the same vintage in Palestine around the turn of the last century. Early film like that was an exploration of movement. Simply filming people walking or horses moving was very exciting then.
